But what we also get from Mercedes is confirmation that the AMG GT will be revealed, ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, on 9 September. Transport costs mean four in 10 'will shun Christmas festivities'

According to research from breakdown service Green Flag, 23% of people will cut back on journeys because of the cost of fuel. A further 16% will shun social visits because of limited public transport availability, and a separate 17% will fall short on Christmas visits because of the cost of public transport.
