Detroit auto show: Ford Mustang Boss 302R breaks cover

Some 40 years after Parnelli Jones drove a Bud Moore-built Boss 302 Mustang to the Trans-Am championship, Ford Racing has unleashed a new Boss 302R. The new Boss is an off-road-only Mustang that comes from the factory race-ready. Each of the limited-to-50 cars will come fitted with a 5.0-liter four-valve V8 and six-speed manual transmission.

The winners at the fourth annual EyesOn Design Awards held at the 2009 NAIAS in Detroit last week read like a serving of alphabet soup, with the top awards going to Audi, BMW and Cadillac. Presided over by 20 top design executives from automotive manufacturers and by academics from transportation design programs, the EyesOn Design awards are presented by the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO) - an internationally recognized non-profit organization known for helping the blind and visually impaired. Saleen Performance to end S302 Ford Mustang production, prepares to expand

If ordering a Saleen S302 Ford Mustang is on your wish list, the time to do it is now. Revstone Industries, owner of Saleen Performance Vehicles, said on Wednesday that it will stop taking orders for the car in May and will finish building Saleen Mustangs in suburban Detroit by the fall. But the Lexington, Ky.-based company is not getting out of the performance parts and merchandise businesses and isn't abandoning the vehicle-upfitting field, spokesman Pete Borum said.
