Genuine GM Parts  Part # 6428629.  This is the sending unit that fits most 1971-1973 GM full size cars except Cadillac.  Delta 88, Ninety Eight, Impala, Caprice, Biscayne, Bel Air, Catalina, Bonneville, Grand Ville, Centurion, LeSabre, and Electra.  This has the fuel return tube which was used on cars with A/C and / or HD Cooling.  This part could be used on cars without the fuel return by simply capping the extra tube.  The simple way to check your fuel gauge sending unit is to find the dark brown wire by the trunk latch.  First make sure there is no voltage.  If you ground the wire the fuel gauge should go past EMPTY, if you don't ground it, the gauge should go past FULL.  This part was re-introduced by GM years ago, but is NOT the same as what the car came with.  The original had the float inside of a can.  This kept fuel sloshing from making the gauge move while driving.  This one the float is on an arm and some gauge fluctuation is normal while driving, since there are no baffles inside the fuel tank.  This part is still available new from your GM dealer.  List price is $275.20, several on-line dealers will sell it for around $140.00.

Land Rover Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Review & Road Test (2010)

Sat, 18 Sep 2010

Land Rover Discovery 4 Review The news this year from the world of Land Rover has been focused on the origins of Land Rover’s first foray in to the world of road-going luxury – the 40th anniversary of the launch of the Range Rover – and on the future of Range Rover as personified by the Range Rover Evoque, which is almost the antithesis of all that Range Rover was conceived to be. But Land Rover has another range of cars – apart from the iconic Defender – which are perceived to trail in the wake of the Range Rover. The Land Rover Discovery and the Land Rover Freelander may – certainly in the eyes of the car-buying public – be seen as somehow ’Less’ than the Range Rovers, but as we discovered when we recently reviewed the 2010 Freelander 2 HSE, that really isn’t the case.

2011 Mercedes SLK finally gets an official reveal. Sort of. To be honest, we’d expected Mercedes to be forthcoming on the new Mercedes SLK a little before now.

The 2009 Jaguar XKR - Quicker, more economical and better equipped We brought you the first undisguised pictures of Jaguar’s updated XK a few days ago, and Jaguar has now officially unveiled the XKR at the Detroit Motor Show. As we reported, the styling updates, although modest, do freshen the car up nicely and make it feel more current. A new front end with chrome-rimmed air vents, tweaks to the mirrors and LEDs at the back, although small changes, do make a difference.
