The new Porsche Macan has been revealed – and the smaller SUV sibling to the hit Porsche Cayenne is all set to become another Porsche best-seller… but will it be a Range Rover Evoque beater? In a surprise reveal, the covers have been almost completely removed from the new Porsche Macan compact SUV, prior to its public debut at the 2013 LA Motor Show later in November. Fewer commuters but longer journeys

PEOPLE ARE TRAVELLING further to get to work but the number of commuters is falling as more staff work from home, according to official figures. Based on Census statistics, the average distance travelled to work in England and Wales increased from 8.3 miles (13.4km) in 2001 to 9.32 miles (15km) in 2011. Those living in the Midlands and south west England had the largest increase in average distance travelled between 2001 and 2011 - going an extra 1.36 miles (2.2km).

Goodwood 2011 FoS and Revival dates announced

Lord March has announced dates for both the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival. The Festival of Speed will take place from 1-3 July, and the Revival will follow on 16-18 September 2011. The theme is 'racing revolutions – quantum leaps that shaped motor sport’, and some of the celebrated breakthroughs will includes 30 years since four-wheel drive started to dominate rallying, 25 years since turbocharged engines ruled in F1, and two decades since Mazda’s rotary-engined 787B took the chequered flag at Le Mans.
