Growing opposition to UK 50mph speed limit plan

Almost 34,000 people have now signed a petition on the Number 10 website urging the Government to ‘not reduce the national speed limit to 50mph.’ It’s become the second most popular petition on the site – ahead of similar bids to stop the Government raising university tuition fees and beaten only by one calling for Gordon Brown to resign as prime minister.Cutting the UK’s national speed limits from 60mph to 50mph: the backgroundBack in March 2009, plans were announced that the Government wanted to cut the national speed limit from 60mph to 50mph on single carriageways in rural areas. New Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet and Estate delayed
Tue, 26 May 2009The new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet - now put back until Spring 2010 Mercedes has done a pretty good job on updating the E-Class, and its been receiving good comments all round. But Mercedes has lost the momentum a bit with the revelation that the E-Class Coupe is actually based on a C-Class chassis. Not that that alone is reason for complaint, but there was a big hoo-haa around the nomenclature for the E-Class Coupe (should it have been the CLK?) so it was a bit disingenuous of Mercedes to reveal the Coupe’s roots after its reveal.

Thu, 19 Aug 2010The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport Thanks to a friend of Cars UK with a healthy appetite for hypercars (and the bank balance to indulge his lust) we were able to break the news to the world that Bugatti were building the ultimate, 1200 hp Veyron – The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport - back in June. Bugatti confirmed our story in July with news that the Veyron Super Sport had taken the world speed record for a production car with an average speed run of 267.81 mph. When Bugatti announced the Super Sport and the new World Record, we also got pictures of the world record Veyron which will form the basis for an Orange and Carbon World Record Edition of five cars.
