Land Rover Discovery range to grow with new models

The Land Rover Discovery name is to be used on a new family of vehicles in a similar way to the Range Rover model range, the firm revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2014. Currently used on the recently updated 2014 Discovery, the name will become a brand in 2015 as Land Rover broadens the range by introducing all-new model lines. GENEVA MOTOR SHOW 2014 LIVE BLOG Group marketing director Phil Popham revealed to MSN that these cars will be focused on versatility and practicality.

Italian coachbuilder and design house Pininfarina showed another stunning concept at Geneva to follow the 2005 Maserati Birdcage and 2004 Nido. The 2008 Sintesi is strictly an ‘ideas concept’ imagining a future vehicle that can communicate with other cars to avoid traffic and accidents and thus reduce the need for current passive safety requirements – like longer and heavier front noses to meet pedestrian impact laws.

JAGUAR is bringing history to life with an incredible mission to build six ‘Lightweight’ E-Types from scratch – by hand. The firm’s ‘finest craftsmen’ will hand-build each of the ultra-rare E-Type racers to the exact specification dictated on the original plans, including the 3.8-litre straight-six petrol engine. The cars were originally destined to be built in the 1960s as part of a run of 18, but only 12 were ever made.
