Volvo to trial self-driving cars on public roads

Volvo Volvo has announced that it will soon begin a trial of 100 self-driving cars on the public roads around the Swedish city of Gothenburg. While many other carmakers – and Google – have been experimenting with this kind of autonomous driving technology, the ‘Drive Me – Self-driving cars for sustainable mobility’ project is set to see driverless cars mix with real traffic on real roads. Autoweek reader and frequent spy-photo contributor Spencer Abbott brings us these photos that he took last weekend in Birmingham, Mich. The photos clearly show a heavily camouflaged Cadillac XTS. But given that production-ready examples of Cadillac's new full-sizer have been making frequent appearances on Michigan highways for months, the heavy camo on this XTS is a bit puzzling.

Fisker reveals hardtop convertible Karma S concept

Alongside the production version of the Karma sedan at the Detroit Auto Show, Fisker debuted the second model to join the Karma range. The Karma S (for Sunset) concept is spawned from the same aluminum spaceframe that underpins the sedan, but loses a set of doors. A retractable hardtop covers the four-passenger interior.
