The GiroDisc system is an upgrade to a 2-piece steel rotor and 6062-T6 aluminum hat combination and is a direct replacement for the OEM brake disc.  The two-piece floating rotor will bolt directly to the car and work with OEM calipers perfectly.  By upgrading your brakes with these lightweight high-performance replacements -- as opposed to a big brake kit -- your factory brake bias is maintained as well as your ABS efficiency.  The Giro Disc rotors are lighter than OEM pieces. The reduction in rotational and unsprung weight (4 lbs per corner) allows for quicker acceleration and suspension response.

When used with Pagid performance brake pads and Prospeed RS683 high-temp fluid (both available from CompetitionMotorsport.com), you have an amazing solution to overheating and warping rotors.

The central hat section of the disc is made from 6061-T6 aircraft-spec aluminum.  The rotor ring is manufactured in the USA from cast iron and is made to the same specifications with the same materials used by professional racing organizations.  The rotors' curved vane design was developed in racing and acts as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.

The rotor and hat mount together through a floating mount system which utilizes eight to ten high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by GiroDisc in the USA to our own specifications and cadmium plated for corrosion resistance.  The alloy drive pins transfer the load from the brake action while maintaining the axial and radial float between the disc rotor and hat.  The pins are secured by Grade-12 cap screws and hardened washers, mounted with anti-noise spring washers to allow for heat expansion while eliminating the rattle and noise usually associated with floating rotors.

The two-piece GiroDisc design allows for rotor ring-only replacement (the aluminum hat is re-used) to minimize future replacement costs and deliver outstanding performance and cooling.

Nissan will install tire-pressure-measuring systems on its Quest and Altima vehicles that alert the driver filling the tire when it reaches an acceptable level. Most people don't carry a tire-pressure gauge in their car. A new federal study shows that underinflated tires triple the risk of an accident.

GM are showing a 'Concept' of the Buick Regal GS at the Detroit Motor Show It always seemed likely that having taken the very good Vauxhall Insignia and turned it in to a Buick for the 21st century – The Buick Regal – that GM would take the obvious step of producing a performance version based on the Insignia VRX. So it’s not a huge surprise that GM have revealed the Buick Regal GS as a Concept (concept? Believe that and you’ll believe anything) which they are showing at the Detroit Motor Show this month.
