Kent-Moore DT-49275
Pinion Bearing Remover

The pinion bearings on the 8.6" axle are being improved to enhance strength and durability. Existing service tools do not fit the new bearings. DT-49275 is fitted around the bearing, and used with a hydraulic press to remove the bearing. Service shims can then be placed as needed to ensure the correct pinion position.

Volvo makes breakthrough in battery tech

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

Volvo has developed a new way of ‘storing’ energy for its future electric vehicles. The Swedish firm is exploring the concept of lightweight structural energy storage components made from carbonfibre, containing “nano structured batteries and super capacitors.” This technology is said to offer a lighter, more compact solution to the problem of energy storage, potentially removing the need for the heavy, bulky batteries used in current electric vehicles. On Bing: see pictures of the Volvo S80 Find out how much a used Volvo S80 costs on Auto Trader The investigation into the new technology is part of an EU-funded research project, undertaken by Volvo – the only major car manufacturer involved – and nine other organisations.

Concept Car of the Week: Ford 021C (1999)

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

As Australian-born designer Marc Newson this week joined Apple, we can only wish that he brings with him the same smart-yet-playful approach as he did with his radical Ford 021C concept. Presented at the 1999 Tokyo Motor Show, the project began when Marc Newson was commissioned by Ford global design director, J Mays, to create an innovative interior. Their mutual passion for design and their enthusiasm led to a much larger project and Newson eventually delivered a complete working prototype.
