GM Muncie Transmissions - Completely Restored - Pictures are examples - All Transmissions are restored identically. Select from: (winning bidder must contact me with these (5) choices before transmission can be built and shipped.) 1. Wide 1st gear ratio (2.52 : 1) or close 1st gear ratio (2.20 : 1). (about 12% difference in 1st gear mph) 2. Speedometer drive on driver or passenger side of tail housing. 3. Choice of nuts (on studs) or bolts (in threaded holes) for shifter arm mounting on shift shafts. 4. Your vehicle's rear-end ratio and rear tire diameter (if significantly more or less than 26") for correct speedometer gear installation. 5. Factory style 1/2"npt magnetic drain plug drilled, tapped, installed or not. All transmissions are completely reconditioned mechanically and restored to like-new operation and appearance. Happy 50th Anniversary - Muncie 4 speed transmissions - 1963 to 2013 NEW front bearing support. (smooth, like new, clutch operation) NEW input, intermediate, mainshaft and cluster bearings. NEW tail housing seal and shifter shaft seals. NEW brass blocker (synchronizer) rings. NEW gaskets and small parts (thrust washers, snap rings, etc.) NEW tailshaft bushing. NEW Grade 8 (aircraft/racecar quality) bolts or nuts and flat and lock washers for shift arm installation. ALL NEW bolts with NEW steel french bolt locks on the front bearing retainer bolts. Clutch vibrations frequently loosen the bolts without the french locks and destroy the transmission by allowing the input gear to grind forward through the case. ALL other parts are cleaned, glass-beaded, inspected and replaced if sub-standard. All gears and synchronizer sliders have full-width engagement teeth. ALL mating surfaces are trued for proper alignment and no leaks. ALL threads are chased or correctly repaired with stainless steel helicoils. ALL transmissions have ALL factory updates installed including 1" cluster pin and gears, stronger late-model brass synchronizer rings and magnetic drain plug (will delete by request for original configuration). Case cluster pin holes are gauged and professionally bushed (if necessary) to return to the original, leak free, press fit on both ends. Most unrepaired or poorly repaired front cluster pin holes will leak continuously with the transmission full. Lockout arms are straightened (if necessary) and machined flat for smooth shifting. These are frequently distorted due to aggressive shifting and binding is common unless corrected. "Mystery" Muncie 1st gear noise removed! Fresh "select fit" on both synchronizer assemblies. 1/2 NPT Magnetic Drain Plug installed in every transmission (unless customer requests no plug as original). (Most Muncies do not have a drain plug. Changing gear oil occasionally will make the transmission last years longer). I recommend the first oil change after 500 or so miles. Use an 8 point (double square) 9/16", 1/2" drive socket on the plugs (available at Sears), not vise grips or an open end wrench. Transmissions are restored by an ASE-certified Master Technician with over 45 years of experience rebuilding hundreds of these transmissions. All cases are glass-beaded (very fine grit) and sprayed with clear lacquer for a factory-fresh appearance. NO welded repairs on cases. WD-40 spray is used for assembly and preservation until installation oil fill. 90 weight (or multi-viscosity with 90 weight in the range) petroleum gear lube recommended. Do not use GL-5 rated lubricants, as the friction modifiers inhibit synchronizer function. Fill plug is delivered finger-tight; drain plug, if equipped, is very tight. Capacity is about 2 quarts. A 6 month warranty (except for abuse, which includes broken gears and other obvious mistreatment evidence) from the date of installation is included, up to 2 years from date of purchase. Transmission will be shipped in a custom, high strength, wood crate (see sample pictures). Will ship to lower 48 states only. Foreign buyers may employ a U.S.-based freight forwarder for shipping out of the country. There are 231 parts in a Muncie 4 speed transmission. Each part requires special attention to detail for a totally correct rebuild. I leave no detail unattended. For complete satisfaction, buy the Muncie for your pride-and-joy from me. Think about the money, time and effort to replace or repair that "bargain" transmission. I will exceed your expectations. A $350 core allowance is available for complete Muncie 4 speeds (except 1963 "704" cases). A core is not required for the transaction. A core is a separate issue, is completely optional and does not affect the selling price. WARNING! Pilot bushings in the rear of the crankshaft MUST be Oilite Bronze bushings. Offshore bushings are being sold at many parts suppliers that are CAST IRON, disguised as bronze with bronze coloring mixed in the casting. These bushings wear out rapidly and will destroy the transmission. If your pilot bushing is magnetic (or worn), it must be replaced with a non-magnetic oilite bronze bushing or roller bearing. Pilot bushing/bearing failure voids my transmission warranty. This failure is obvious when transmission is disassembled. I can supply the correct bushing for Chevy and other GM engines that use the same bronze bushing. If needed, request a free bushing when ordering your transmission. Questions? Production of U.S.-spec Lotus Exige and Elise to end in August
Thu, 09 Jun 2011The end is near for production of U.S.-specification versions of the Lotus Elise and Exige sports cars. Lotus said on Thursday that it will pull the models from the United States because the airbags no longer meet safety standards. Rules require cars to have smart airbags, which adjust deployment for the speed of impact.
Peugeot RCZ GT THP 1.6 156 Review & Road Test (2010) Part 2
Tue, 21 Sep 2010The Peugeot RCZ Interior - really quite decent Let’s get some of the styling stuff out of the way first. The front is a bit of a let-down. It has the same Peugeot wide grill, oversized, in-your-face badge and lights that make the nose of the RCZ look like it’s had a botched rhinoplasty.
Range Rover Evoque: Are Land Rover plans for a ‘Grand Evoque’ taking shape?
Sun, 04 Dec 2011Range Rover Grand Evoque planned - a stretched Evoque Land Rover are considering plans for a stretched Range Rover Evoque – the Grand Evoque or Evoque XL – to fit between the Evoque and RRS. Although it seemed to take forever to turn the Land Rover LRX in to the Range Rover Evoque, the Evoque has certainly had a real impact on the car market since it finally arrived this year. Plaudits and prizes galore, and an order book that seems to be growing every day.
