Lister Motor Co. is back in business, apparently

This summer has been a big one for fans of limited-production British automakers. First, we heard that TVR has returned, or is at least planning to return, with production expected to resume in 2015. Now we're getting word that Lister Motor Co., which built the remarkable Lister “Knobbly” Jaguar cars, is getting a new lease on life.

The Machimoto might look and sound like a Japanese concept, but it was developed in Europe in the Turin-based Italdesign studio, and was based on a Volkswagen Golf GTI platform. The name actually derives from MACHIna (car in Italian) and MOTOciclo (motorcycle) as the perfect hybrid between the worlds of two- and four-wheelers. Unveiled on its home turf at the Turin motor show in 1986, it landed like a UFO, shocking both the public and the press.

Brilliance V5 - a BMW X1 for the budget conscious Chinese motorist The Chinese motor industry has become well-known for its ‘Homage’ cars; Chinese cars that bear more than a passing resemblance to well-known cars from the West. Step forward the latest of these – the Brilliance V5 - which we originally thought would be the Brilliance A3. Interestingly, Brilliance is actually BMW’s partner in China, and the BMW Brilliance Automotive partnership will shortly be launching the real-deal BMW X1 in China.
