Ford Figo – Cool for India

The Ford Figo - made in India For has spent a few bob – around £300 million – expanding its car making facilities in India at Chennai to make the plant capable of producing 200,000 cars a year which, as Alan Mullaly, Ford’s CEO said, does show how serious Ford are about the Indian market. The Figo – which is apparently colloquial Italian for ‘Cool’ – shares Ford’s small car platform, which means that under the skin it’s a Fiesta. It looks like a Ford too, with the usual ford ‘Kinetic’ design cues written all over it.

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera teases Geneva concept car

Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has released a teaser image of its 2012 Disco Volante Concept, which will debut at next month's Geneva motor show. In 1952, the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring teamed up with Alfa Romeo to create a series of special-bodied cars to trial new technologies as well as being easily adaptable for racing. Perhaps the most famous (and beautiful) was the 1952 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante (C52) which was based on the Alfa 1900, with both coupe and Spider convertible bodies produced.

Design Contest: Peugeot

The theme for the 3rd Peugeot Design Competition has been announced. Following on from the earlier contest themes of '2020' and 'Retrofuturism', the 3rd instalment of the contest challenges participants to design "the Peugeot of your dreams for the near future".
