Local Motors announces winners of Terra Prix 2085 design competition

Wed, 13 Jul 2011

Local Motors has announced the 10 winners of its Terra Prix 2085 Concept Design competition. The competition brief asked entrants to design a two-person race vehicle that could navigate every terrain imaginable on every continent, as well as a support craft for any maintenance needed throughout the race. The support craft had to be able to carry tools, extra parts, any potential module changes for different terrain as well as enough 'fuel' for both vehicles to move between three major checkpoints.

2012 Honda Insight gets a facelift and emits 96g/km

Sun, 04 Sep 2011

2012 Honda Insight We’re still not convinced that Honda has its heart in the Insight Hybrid, but they have no choice other than to present some semblance of competition to the stranglehold Toyota has developed in the hybrid market. So in an effort to make it more appealing, the unconvincing 2012 Honda Insight gets a bit of a facelift and, perhaps more appealingly for many, a cut in emissions to under the magic 100g/km. Titivations to the Insight for 2012 include a new front grill and bumper – just so existing Insight owners can feel fed up at driving the ‘old’ Insight – and a smaller spoiler and wiper at the back for better visibility.

One Lap of the Web: Packards -- Ask the man who knows way too much about one

It includes the horrible neoclassics that plagued the 1970s, and the 1995 revival of the Packard name that attempted to stick a shortened rendition of the famous Packard grille in front of a 440-hp V12, all wrapped in a shape that looked like a melted Twix, as shown above. Our august associate editor Graham Kozak owns a Packard, so he could have filled us in on the details.
