TH700R4 TRANSMISSION w/TORQUE CONVERTER

Turbo-Hydramatic TH700R4 Transmission
w/Torque Converter
High Performance Street

This transmission is designed for a mild performance street application. It is built stronger than stock with upgraded components. A higher stall speed torque converter with up to 2500rpm stall speed is included to match your engine, tire size and rear end gears. This transmission is designed to have a nice "firm" shift but still tame enough to be driven daily without breaking your neck.

The same care that we take to remanufacture our engines is used to remanufacture our transmissions.

Every Tuff Dawg transmission goes through:

  • Teardown where the transmission is disassembled to a bare case and its components, including the removal of bushings and disassembly of the valve body
  • The bare case is cleaned in a aluminum jet cleaner and has the passages further cleaned using compressed air, while the valve body and its parts that are to be reused are thoroughly cleaned
  • The cleaned case is then inspected for cracks, pin holes or wear. The valve body surfaces are checked and machined as necessary, while the valves are checked for drag to ensure correct smooth operation
  • The torque converter is cut open for thorough cleaning. The turbine fins are inspected, retightened and welded. The hubs are carefully inspected and replaced as needed. Washers, spacers, springs, rollers and new relined clutch piston is then installed. The converter halves are then welded back together.

More special features of this transmission include:

  • 30 spline input shaft instead of early 27 spline shaft
  • 10 vane pump instead of early 7 vane pump
  • High performance regulator spring
  • .500" boost valve instead of early .423" or smaller valve
  • Hardened pump rings instead of stock pump rings which were weak and prone to breaking
  • Alto 3/4 clutch pack with 9 clutches instead of stock 6 clutches
  • Wide 2/4 band with 50% greater holding ability
  • Corvette 2/4 servo strong band applied
  • New Raybestos low reverse roller clutch
  • NewTorrington bearings
  • New Clutch plates
  • New Stronger sunshell to replace weaker stock sunshell that was prone to cracking
  • New Bushings
  • New Seals and sealing rings
  • High performance throttle pressure springs
  • New Transgo shift correction package
  • New filter
  • New gaskets
  • Dipstick with tube
  • It is recommended to use a transmission cooler with any stall speed torque converters (not included)
  • IMPORTANT

It is important that your transmission, torque converter stall speed, rear end gear ratio, tire size, and engine (including compression ratio and cam duration) all match for you to get the full potential and fuel mileage for your application and use.

When ordering this transmission you must provide us with your rear end gear ratio and the overall height of your rear tires in inches so that we can help you select the correct transmission and torque converter stall speed for your personal application and use.

By purchasing your engine and transmission from someone that knows how to set up your power train so everything matches and works together you are assured of getting the best value for your money.

This transmission is covered by a 1 year written warranty.
(There is no warranty when using a Blower, Turbo, Super Charger or NOS)

New Mercedes A45 AMG has 105 years of 4WD on its side

Wed, 15 Aug 2012

With the new Mercedes A45 AMG on the horizon – complete with 4WD – Mercedes chart the history of all wheel drive on their vehicles. We tend to think of 4WD road cars as a modern innovation, and certainly very few 4WD road cars hit the road in a mainstream way much before the 1980s (the Jensen FF was hardly mainstream before someone points out that was in the 1960s). But the history of 4WD goes back, certainly in the case of Mercedes, a surprising 105 years when Daimler built the Dernburg-Wagen, a 4WD vehicle that not only got all-wheel drive but all wheel steering too.

Honda Insight ramps up left-handed models to meet U.S. demand

Thu, 26 Mar 2009

Honda's new Insight hybrid hatchback has been on sale barely a week in the United States. But the company's sprawling plant here is already churning out 600 a day. And about half of the sleek-silhouetted Insights rolling down Suzuka's Line 1 have left-handed steering wheels, attesting to Honda's optimism for booming business in North America.
