Hendrick buys first Corvette Stingray

Race team owner and car dealer Rick Hendrick bought the first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, VIN 0001, at the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Jan. 19. Hendrick's winning bid was $1.05 million, for a car that's estimated to have a sticker price around $60,000.

Volvo tests flywheel technology to cut fuel use

Volvo is testing flywheel technology--being used in Formula One racing to give cars an extra boost--as a technology that could help cut fuel use in future cars by as much as 20 percent. Flywheels recapture energy normally lost as heat during braking. That energy can then be used to help propel the car.

It’s getting on for two years since we ran the first spy photos of the SLS Roadster, at which point we had expectations that it might arrive at Geneva in 2010. And we were almost certain that the SLS Roadster would finally arrive at the New York Motor Show last month after we published photos of an undisguised SLS Roadster out partying in Hamburg.
