My BackgroundHi, my name is Mark Sain. I've been a car buff for many years. Here's a bit of my story: At a used car lot in a small middle Tennessee town the 'car bug' bit and I have been infected with this disease for over forty years. The father of one of my high school friends was a co-owner in the dealership, which allowed me the opportunity to grow up around these classic cars. One of my first drives was an SS Impala, which has a way of hooking you for life! When you were in the graduating class of 1967 you were born to love the muscle cars of that era. Over the last four decades I have bought, sold, restored and collected cars from every vintage. There was a Cadillac LaSalle, some Ford Mustangs, a sweet 1953 MG-TD, several Corvettes, a few pickups, and even a 1926 Studebaker! This diversified experience has included owning approximately 150 cars in the last forty-three years!
My family has lived in Florence for 25 years where we have established a good reputation within the community. We own and operate three businesses in Florence, which enables me to devote my 'hobby' time and energy to one of the real passions of my life. For me it has never changed. I grew up around the classic cars of the sixties and my wife jokingly says I have never grown up when it comes to these treasures. The downsizing trend continues apace and the new warm-hatch Fiestas are first to get a higher-output version of the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Ecoboost engine, tweaked to 138bhp thanks to variable cam timing, higher turbo boost and direct injection. Ford claims the new Fiesta specials are the most powerful 1.0-litre cars in the world.
New Lexus NX Compact SUV ‘Grows’ on UK debut
Thu, 10 Jul 2014The Lexus NX in a flower bed at Hampton Court The new Lexus NX – a compact take on the Lexus RX Hybrid SUV – arrived officially at the Beijing Motor Show in April and will cost from £24,495 when it arrives in the UK in October. Ahead of its official arrival in Lexus UK dealers, the NX has had its first public outing in the UK at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show – the world’ largest annual flower show – where it was plonked somewhat incongruously in the middle of a flower bed (above). The NX was included in the ‘Inspire’ zone to showcase the NX’s contemporary design and technology and the debut was part of Lexus’s relationship with Quiet Mark, an international seal of approval from the Noise Abatement Society which encourages quiet technology.

With the vast proliferation of BMW models, there just aren’t enough motor shows to go round, so Tokyo was treated to the unusual sight of two world debuts from the Germans: the outwardly sensible (but mental behind its closed four doors) M3 and the mental-in-every-way Concept 1 Series tii. The Concept 1 Series tii, BMW executives were extremely keen to point out, is a design study intended to highlight the new coupe’s links to great road and racing BMWs of the past, such as the 2002 tii of the 60s and 70s and the brilliant 3.0 CSL of the 70s.
