NHTSA investigates 2011-12 Ford Mustang for gearbox problems
Mon, 08 Aug 2011The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into 26,000 manual-equipped Ford Mustangs from model years 2011 to 2012, the organization said on Sunday. NHTSA has received 32 complaints of an inability to shift gears, some nearly resulting in crashes. The complaints range from the grinding of gears to the complete lockout of others.
Maybach is dead - Zetsche closes Merc's upmarket wing
Fri, 25 Nov 2011Daimler is to announce the closure of Maybach, marking the failure of its upmarket division resurrected to battle BMW's Rolls-Royce and VW's Bentley subsidiaries. Chief exec Dieter Zetsche will tomorrow (Saturday 26 November) announce he's lost patience with Maybach in an interview with a weekend newspaper in Germany. No more Maybachs will be developed and stocks will deplete by later in 2012.
Concept Car of the Week: AMC AMX/2 (1969)

In the late 60s, the design team produced a series of "Think Young" concept cars to reach the younger audience as well as exciting new showroom offerings like the Mustang-inspired Javelin, the two-seater AMX and the Rambler. Presented at the 1969 Chicago auto show, the second opus of the American Motors Experimental series, the AMX/2 was not just AMC's most daring concept car ever, but one of Detroit's first acknowledgments that the future of high-performance sports cars would be mid-engined.
