For sale is a Garmin GNS530W. This was installed in my airplane in 2003 before I owned the airplane. After I got the airplane, I upgraded it to WAAS, and had a new face plate installed. That was February of 2013. It was removed from my airplane last week, when I upgraded to an Avidyne 540.  When this was removed, it was working fine, but I had it tested by the avionics shop, upgraded to the latest software, (v 5.3) and certified and yellow tagged.  Included is the unit, the Garmin tray, a new install kit, the quick reference manual, a Pilot Workshops manual that is easier to understand than the factory manual, and a Skybound adapter to get the Jeppesen maps.  This unit has terrain guidance that is visual, not audible. The face looks perfect, as it is not very old.

Concorso Italiano 2013: the non-Italian cars

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

This year as part of Concorso Italiano 2013, a display was introduced for British cars – and it then grew to become anything that isn’t Italian. As a result there was a healthy dose of American, British, German and French metal (and plastic) on display. And just for good measure there was also space for some Japanese classics too.

Aston Martin DB5 James Bond movie car up for auction

Tue, 01 Jun 2010

You can play James Bond with an opriginal Aston martin DB5 Bond car - if you have a spare $5 million. Maybe it’s my age – maybe it’s just a boy thing – but if ever I think of a ‘James Bond’ car it’s the Aston Martin DB5, complete with machine guns, bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen. Sadly, the closest I’ve ever come to owning a James Bond DB5 was the toy car I had as a child.

Why LaFerrari was designed in Maranello

Tue, 02 Apr 2013

Love it or hate it, the design of LaFerrari comes completely from one place— Maranello. The most powerful street-legal Ferrari ever made was styled entirely in-house, which means that for the first time in recent memory, a Ferrari wasn't crafted by Pininfarina. An Italian legend in its own right, the design house has created nearly 200 Ferraris dating to the early 1950s.
