HALDA TWINMASTER TWM1
Serial Number: 20362
EARLY ALLOY/METAL CASE RALLY RACING METER
HALDA works perfectly and remains original and in remarkable condition, never restored and comes autographed by the driver!
About the HALDA...
Still with the HALDA factory applied lettering and never restored, after nearly 50 years this metal case HALDA Twinmaster still remains in remarkable original condition. Note the emblem just to the left of the 'HALDA' logo, shows it is one of the early but 'improved' metal versions of these meters. There are two metal case HALDA's; the very early metal cases were painted with a smooth black finish while the improved version received the textured (wrinkled) paint finish. The model I'm selling. HALDA later also offered the Twinmaster in a plastic case, a cheaper version, much less desirable and one I would never consider installing in my car. Sort of like installing plastic Heuer rally timers on the dash of your car, most people wouldn't do it..
Compare this meter to other units that are or have been offered for sale here on eBay and elsewhere. Most of the early metal case HALDA meters are either in dire need of restoration, or have already been restored (with new decal lettering, reproduction plastic windows, knobs, etc.). After the restoration, they simply don't quite look the same. BTW, it is NOT my intent to criticize any particular HALDA restoration. I'm simply pointing out that once most HALDA's are restored they really NEVER LOOK THE SAME. Restored units do come up available from time to time, but unrestored units in their original factory condition, not often, if at all. As they say; "They are only original once". HALDA Twinmaster does not come with any cables, box, or T-Gear fitting. Those components can be found and are still available from several sources, including eBay. For additional information, you know how to contact me.
About the Autograph...
This particular HALDA Twinmaster was removed from a rally car during the early 70s' and subsequently autographed by the driver, Mr. Davey Jordan, an ex-Vasek Polak team driver and rally car driver. An interesting piece of history, you can read more about Mr. Davey Jordan by going here http://www.vpracing.com/Vasek_Polak/vp-daveyjordan.html
