Saab: China’s Pang Da & Youngman to invest $7.5 billion. UPDATED

Mon, 31 Oct 2011

Saab: China to invest $7.5 billion Update: We have now been told by Saab that Pang Da and Youngman are to provide €50 million immediately and €600 million for short to medium finance. Funding for the revised business plan and provide long-term financial stability the new Chinese owners have also budgeted funding for the planned expansion of Saab Automobile’s portfolio and additional operations to be set up in China There will be a reduction of 500 in the employee numbers. Sales targets for 2012 of 35-55,000 cars and 2013 of 75-85,00 and long-term of 200,000 cars a year Interestingly, Saab says that ‘Saab Automobile has not received the funds from Pang Da and Youngman that have been committed for today.’ Oh, well. Although the deal which will see Saab sold to China’s Youngman and Pang Da is still subject to a raft of approvals – Swedish Debt Office, EIB, GM, Chinese Government… – it seems the Chinese have big plans to invest up to $7.5 billion in Saab in the coming years.

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe video promo

Sun, 11 Dec 2011

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe video below Mercedes has produced a new video promoting the C63 AMG Black Series, complete with the latest Track Pack & Aerodynamic Pack on show. The new Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe may not have been given Mercedes’ latest V8 powerplant – the 5.5 litre bi-turbo – but it does a sterling job of propelling Mercedes titivated rep-mobile at great speed towards the horizon, with its 6.2 litre V8 capable of getting to 60mph in a shade over 4 seconds. Just in case you might think that driving round in a C63 AMG Black Series Coupe isn’t shouting loudly enough to your friends and neighbours that you’ve shelled out more than three times the price of an entry-level C-Class Coupe, Mercedes has thoughtfully offered a couple of options for the C63 Black Series – the Track Pack and Aerodynamic Pack – that will leave no one in any doubt that your particular C-Class is a cut above the rest.

Coming soon: A bigger, better autoweek.com

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

First, we want to thank all the readers who have helped make autoweek.com what it is today -- we've worked hard to ensure no nugget of cool car news falls through the cracks, and we've been rewarded by a 100 percent increase in visitors over the past two years. That said, we also know there's a lot about our site design that can be improved. Articles don't "pop" the way they should, the home page is far too busy, and our commenting system is…well, let's just say that anything relying on Facebook deserves a healthy dose of skepticism.
