Volkswagen builds 30 millionth Golf (2013)Fri, 14 Jun 2013VW has built its 30 millionth Golf. The milestone car, a Mk7 TDI Bluemotion model, rolled off the Wolfsburg production line today (14 June 2013) and will be displayed at the factory’s open day to celebrate. On average, 2000 Golfs have been sold worldwide every day since its 1974, according to VW’s maths. Over the past 39 years there have been seven generations of Golf, from the Giugiaro-styled original right up to today’s range, which offers 227bhp in GTI Performance form, or 88mpg in the case of the Bluemotion. GM cancels Opel Vauxhall sale to MagnaTue, 03 Nov 2009By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 03 November 2009 22:59 General Motors tonight surprised the world by pulling its proposed sale of its European division – Opel and Vauxhall – to Magna. In a dramatic U-turn, Detroit said 'an improving business environment for GM over the past few months' had made it reappraise its spin-off plans. The 11th hour switch means that GM will still retain full ownership of Opel and Vauxhall, which will now 'be restructured in earnest'. Canadian parts giant Magna had won the race to buy a controlling stake in GM Europe, as a newly relaunched Detroit sought to shore up its finances. Hungarian GP qualifying: Rosberg on pole for Mercedes – Hamilton out of qualifying after car fireSat, 26 Jul 2014Hungarian GP qualifying: Rosberg (pictured) on pole for Mercedes Lewis Hamilton seems to have had most of the unreliability problems that have hit Mercedes this year, but a fire in his car before he even set a time in qualifying for the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix today in Budapest was a cruel blow to his title chances. Hamilton managed to limp his stricken car in to the pits as flames licked round the back after what appears to have been a fuel leak, but that means Hamilton will start from the back of the grid tomorrow, making it incredibly difficult to get even close to Rosberg who finished qualifying on pole. Behind Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel managed to put the Red Bull in second, with Williams’ Botas in third during a final qualifying that saw rain drench the first corner, nearly claiming Rosberg and sending McLaren’s Magnussen in to the tyre barrier and out of Q3. 2040Parts.com © 2012-2024.
