It would seem that everyone in the Harley world is aware of the faulty flywheels that come in the new Twin Cam motors.  It does not happen to every set of wheels but there are a large number of flywheels that lose their true and then shift. this can be a bad situation as most of the time the shifting will result in a broke or worn oil pump, excessive wear on the cam plate bushings and some times will destroy the cams, especially if they are gear drive.  The factory does realize that their is a problem with this set up and offers a cure to the problem. IMO the biggest reason the wheels are failing is because of cheap cast parts and not having the flywheels supported by Timken bearings.  Well this can all be cured with the addition of a Timken bearing insert into the cases and then to have the flywheels welded and trued so their is no slippage.

What I do is disassemble the lower end, clean all the parts and then do the machining for the Timken race and then install the race into the cases. I will weld and true the flywheels then I will install the Timken bearings, set the end play and reassemble the lower end. It will come to you ready to be bolted into the frame and have the rest of the motor assembled.

This kit will cost $695.00 for "A" motors and $895.00 for the "B" motors.  this also a good time to think about a bigger motor, like a 117 or 124". there are many options available but the first should be a good quality lower end that can handle the rigors of todays driving style.

BMW has established a Web site called www.dontblogabouthis.com with the express purpose of revealing a prototype being used to test a new gasoline-electric driveline earmarked for a future sports car. It’s expected to be launched in 2012 as part of BMW’s EfficientDynamics program. Featuring two short videos and four photographs of a 6-series based prototype, the Web site provides no additional information about the prototype other than to suggest that the car in question is “more than a 6-series”and is “not in its final stage.” Close inspection reveals the matte black BMW mule has a new front end resembling that of the one-off EfficientDynamics concept revealed at last year’s Frankfurt motor show.
