Harley Knucklehead Ul 1947 Transmission Kicker Cover L-6 Date Code Barn Fresh on 2040-parts.com
East Hampton, Connecticut, US
. ...You are bidding on what looks like an L-6 Date Coded Harley late Big Twin Knucklehead and UL Transmission Kicker Cover. It does need a repair inside so look close and read carefully please. .... The L-6 Date Code should be for December of 1946. ...That probably would be the first and maybe early part of the second quarter of production for the 1947 Knuckleheads and UL Big Twin Flathead models from what I remember??. ....On the outside you can see that Date Code as well as a few wear lines from something ?? in the casting that I point to in the photos near the filler plug. ....The aluminum threads for the filler are real nice but the head of the plug has some wear to it. ...That plug would be perfect for a barn bike as is but maybe not restoration quality because of some pitting and rounded corners. There are no other cracks or repairs, or welds on the OUTSIDE of the cover visible to the naked eye. .The throwout assembly feels pretty tight and has nice threads on top. ...As far as inside goes it does have the common cracks around the kicker arm hole. The major one is at the 2 to 3 o'clock position as shown in the photos. The other two are not as bad and are roughly near the 10 o'clock position and I try to shown them as best I can in the photos. ..... The nice original Kicker Arm that I took out of this Cover (another auction!) did have some up and down movement so the bushing will most probably need replacing. The rubber seal between the two halves of that bushing is solidified rock hard and broken and pieces are falling out so it will also need replacement. I simply degreased the cover as shown and did not bead or sand blast it. ....It does not appear to have ever been polished or chromed and with a little work might be either barn or restoration quality for that 47 Knuckle project!!!..............LQQK close and be sure what I think it is and know you can use it as there are no returns and all sales are final please. ....PLEASE note; ...I WILL GLADLY COMBINE SHIPPING ON ANY OF THE Transmission PARTS I WILL BE LISTING in the next few days. ............ Shipped USA via UPS Ground Insured or Priority Mail and Priority Mail International for all others. ...NO RETURNS so please be 100% sure that this is the item you need for your application before bidding PLEASE !

One Lap of the Web: falling rocks, falling prices, and a Ford Frontenac?
Wed, 04 Sep 2013-- If this isn't the automotive video of the week, then we don't know what is. A car in Taiwan just barely avoids being crushed by a gigantic boulder, whose water and mud bow wave shoves the car a few feet before the boulder even lands anywhere near the car. Watch the top of the hill at the very start of the video.
Cadillac ATS and Tesla Model S make final five in Innovation By Design Award's 'Transportation' category
Fri, 27 Sep 2013Cadillac's ATS and the Tesla Model S are among the five finalists bidding to win the ‘Transportation' category at this year's Innovation by Design Awards, which celebrates groundbreaking designs from the past year. Established last year by design magazine Fast Company, the awards consist of eight different categories – 2D Design, Products, Interactive Experience, Transportation, Spaces, Social Good, Concepts and Student Design – and this year saw over 1,200 submissions from all over the world, from corporations all the way down to individuals' designs. After a jury of 24 experts from all design disciplines – including J Mays, Ford's vice president of design and chief creative officer – whittled them down to just 54 designs, the Cadillac ATS and the Tesla Model S are battling for their category award against three other designs from 2013.
