Barcroft Media A Top Gear fan has completed the ultimate motor challenge - building a £5 million supercar using scrap and spare parts. Amateur mechanic Jacek Mazur, 48, made his own replica McLaren F1 for just £20,000 - 250 times cheaper than the real thing. He even paid tribute to his favourite TV show by building a tiny rear seat for Top Gear co-host Richard Hammond.

Gar Wood's Miss America VIII race boat to be auctioned in Florida

Famed boat racer Gar Wood's two-time Harmsworth Trophy-winning race boat, Miss America VIII, will be offered at Mecum's Kissimmee Auction on Jan. 28 in Kissimmee, Fla. Wood piloted the boat to the Harmsworth Trophy in 1929 and 1931, the latter event witnessed by more than 600,000 people gathered on the shores of the Detroit River to watch.

The 850 was a very popular car for Fiat in the ‘60s, especially in its spider version with its cute design and compact proportions. When the time came to replace it, Fiat went back to Bertone, where chief designer Marcello Gandini was charged with designing its replacement. Not happy to simply recreate the 850, he began with a whole new layout by placing the engine directly in front of the rear axle for a mid-engined layout.
