First seen at the 2011's Worthersee enthusiast show, the new Golf R Cabriolet packs the same 266bhp engine as its hard-top sister, but loses its all-wheel drive underpinnings. It's now a front-driver, like a regular Golf GTI.

Featuring adaptive four wheel drive and an electronic limited slip diff., the handling is also aided by a 10mm lower suspension setup than the standard Insignia, and HiPerStrut front suspension which keeps torque steer in check. Changes on the outside include side mirrors with integrated turn signals, revised front grille, chrome body side molding, front bumper and rain-sensing wipers. The ES 350 also gets updated headlamps, lower intake with integrated foglamps and revised taillights.
