 'Red Helmet Hedz'

Removable Helmet Cover

Fits snugly over most motorcycle helmets

Covers are designed to fit standard motorcycle helmets but:

  • Will fit some Moto-X helmets but peak sticks out. loses some effect due to the goggles vs visor on a standard helmet.
  • Will fit over an open faced helmet but (obviously) covers the mouth, basically acting as a furry bandana.
  • Will fit over many flip faced helmets but prevents them from opening properly. Only the visor can be opened.

 FAQ’s

Can you make other styles?  I HAVE made other styles in the past but the business got too big for little old me with the sewing machine on the kitchen table. I’ve outsourced the sewing and now so, for now, what you see is what we’ve got.

Are they hand made?  Up until 2008, I used to make these all myself. Now, due to demand (and high production costs in Australia) we now get them made up to our specifications in China.

Do I get a discount for bulk purchases? I only offer discounts to wholesalers who purchase regular large quantities.

OK, here’s the bit that spoils all the fun. Sad, but true. Please read it all:

HelmetHedz are novelty Motorcycle Helmet Covers.

They’re constructed of stretchy nylonish fur type material with a big bit of elastic around the bottom to hold them onto the helmet firmly.

 They’re one size fits most.

They slip on and off the helmet in seconds, and are washable.

They are designed to protect the helmet (A little, from dust and cats and stuff)

They are designed to store the helmet in, and protect the helmet from chips, like if you drop the helmet on those nice Italian tiles in the kitchen.

They are designed to make kids laugh and point when they see you.

They are not to be used by the driver on public roads. (The same as most aftermarket motorcycle accessories.)

They are to be used at all times in conjunction with local laws and regulations.

They can potentially impede peripheral vision, dependent on type of motorcycle helmet, how it’s been fitted and so forth.

They can potentially interfere with airflow through the ventilation systems of some motorcycle helmets.

They can potentially limit wind noise. Well, they do a bit, sort of like a microphone sock works. This might also affect hearing in some circumstances, which could be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at things.

They do increase wind drag, which can make your neck tired, as well as the rest of you. This is not a problem if restricted to low speed use as recommended above.

They look best when your helmet has a dark visor. Otherwise it looks a bit like a motorcycle riding puppet has swallowed a human.

They take time out of your day because lots of people will want to take photos of you.

Hyundai i20 facelift and Veloster Turbo at 2012 Geneva motor show

Mon, 05 Mar 2012

Hyundai has significant new model news and a piece of range expansion to announce at the 2012 Geneva motor show with the unveiling of a facelifted i20 supermini and a spanking fresh turbo diesel for its Veloster coupe-cum-hatchback.  One at a time now – will the Veloster line up neatly behind the i20 please. What’s happening to that then? Perhaps slightly stung by critics in some quarters dismissing the Mk1 i20 as being rather Euro-bland, the Korean’s all-new i20 is a rather pretty-looking thing. Nose-wise it has a wide-mouthed, grinning hexagonal grille and little creases filtering up from it and the headlamp cluster, which look uncannily like laughter lines.

Jaguar signs up Lana Del Rey to make the F-Type cool

Sat, 25 Aug 2012

Jaguar has revealed it has signed up singer songwriter Lana Del Rey to help promote the new F-Type sports car. Land Rover chose to use Mrs Beckham to promote the Range Rover Evoque, and went as far as allowing her input in a limited edition Evoque Beckham, a move that probably generated more column inches of PR for Land Rover than any amount of money could buy. So Jaguar are going a similar way with the F-Type, but instead of signing a Spice Girl they’ve had the sense to look at what is new and cool, and they’ve very sensibly decided the face of the F-Type is going to be singer songwriter Lana Del Rey.

Is this the new Jeep Cherokee?

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Editor's note: Here's the official 2014 Jeep Cherokee, hastily revealed by Chrysler after these unofficial photos hit the web Friday. Spoiler alert -- it looks the same. Jalopnik has real photos of what they're claiming is the new Jeep Cherokee and, well, we'll say this: It's better than the Patriot and Compass.
