This starter is in excellent mechanical condition. It operates as it should, and has a brand new drive gear on it. As you can see, there are some signs of wear on the outside of it. Nothing that a little elbow grease and paint won't fix. It was on a '62 Chevy that I bought, and I wanted the "stock appearing" type of starter on it, so I replaced this one. There are two sets of "straight across" mounting holes in it. The holes are 3/8" diameter, and are 3-5/16" center-to-center. There is one shim in the starter that can be removed if need be, in order to adjust it to your engine.

There is nothing wrong with this starter, I just prefer the "original looking" type of starter on the "62.
