Detroit motor show 2014: CAR’s A-Z guide
Thu, 09 Jan 2014By the CAR editorial team Motor Shows 09 January 2014 14:00 Welcome to CAR's A-Z guide of the 2014 National American International Auto Show, better known as the Detroit motor show (or simply the NAIAS.) This year, the global automotive circus takes over Michigan's motor city from 13 – 16 January 2014, and sees the 'Big Three' automakers of America (Ford, GM and Chevrolet) lock horns with Europe's finest for show-stealing headlines. Mouth-watering debuts at this year's event include the BMW M3 and BMW M4, Corvette Z06, Lexus RC-F, and Mercedes GLA45 AMG. The new Porsche 911 Targa is also thought to be appearing.
Latest news on Fiat's plan to gobble up GM-Europe
Fri, 15 May 2009By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 15 May 2009 10:18 With just over a fortnight until General Motors’ fate is sealed, moves to rescue GM’s European car making division are accelerating. Fiat – already named as the Obama-blessed partner for bankrupt Chrysler in the US – is now wooing Opel, Vauxhall and Saab in Europe. If successful, Fiat would overnight become the second biggest car making business in the world.
Could the McLaren P13 get a Honda engine?
Wed, 22 May 2013The McLaren P13 is due to arrive in 2015 and we’re expecting it to get a de-tuned version of the 3.8 litre V8 already found in the 12C (pictured above) and P1, and be priced to take on the almost empty sector (in terms of price) the Porsche 911 Turbo occupies - somewhere around £125k. It’s a sensible plan to fill a potentially lucrative sector of the supercar market with a mid-engined, rear wheel drive ‘baby’ supercar with performance of around 3.8 seconds to 60mph and stunning handling. It should give the 911 Turbo a run for its money.
