Buy a hydrogen-powered car in 2015…at least in California

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

At the Consumers Electronics Show this week Toyota claimed that a production version of its four-door midsize FCV concept fuel cell sedan will hit showrooms some time in 2015. Toyota has been investing in fuel-cell technology for the past 20 years, and since 2002 it has been testing and developing prototypes primarily in North America. Toyota claims that it has reduced the cost of producing a fuel-cell powertrain, and has estimated a 95 percent cost reduction in the powertrain and fuel tanks for the 2015 production model versus the 2002 prototype.

Dacia Logan MCV (Estate) revealed: Geneva Motor Show

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

Renault’s budget brand – and driving force – Dacia reveals a new model to add to the Duster and Sandero – the Dacia Logan MCV Estate. Renault’s budget brand has hit at the hearts of cash-strapped motorists with two models, aimed at the mopping up sales in the space vacated by former budget brands like Hyundai and Kia, with the cracking little compact SUV Duster and the far from useless Sandero, and now it has a new car aimed at budget-conscious family motorists – the Dacia Logan MCV Estate. The Logan MCV (maximum capacity vehicle) shares a common platform with other Dacias and comes in at 4490mm long with enough room in the back for 573 litres of junk with the seats up or a fairly capacious 1518 litre with the back seats folded down and a huge 16 different storage areas dotted around.

McLaren F1 GTR Longtail sells at Gooding & Co for $5.28 million

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

McLaren F1 GTR Longtail (pictured) sells at Gooding & Co for $5.28 million Even with the arrival of the new McLaren P1, the ultimate supercar is still the McLaren F1. The McLaren F1 is one of rarest of the more modern supercars, and McLaren produced just 64 road going F1s in addition to a number of racing versions, with the F1 GTR Longtail the last, and rarest, of the breed. So the arrival of a McLaren F1 GTR Longtail on the auction block at Gooding & Co’s sale in Scottsdale raised expectations of a possible record-breaking price for the GTR Longtail, with pre-sale estimates putting the price between $5 and $7 million.
