David Coulthard gives the thumbs up whilst doing doughnuts Sebastian Vettel may be cool, collected and composed behind the wheel of his Red Bull F1, but even an in-control German needs to let off steam when he’s just taken his fourth F1 drivers title in a row. So at last week’s Indian Grand Prix, Seb celebrated his title win by producing a series of doughnuts in his car on the finish line, much to the annoyance of FIA officials who fined him €25k for his celebrations. But the latest doughnuts by an F1 team won’t have the FIA up in arms (probably) even if the stunt Red Bull have pulled to mark their latest achievements will give anyone who’s afraid of heights the heebie-jeebies.

Land Rover Defender LXV celebrates 65 years of Land Rover

As part of the celebrations at Packington Estate – which was the original testing ground for the 1948 Defender prototypes – Land Rover are launching a celebratory Defender special edition – the Land Rover Defender LXV – based on the standard Defender and available in five different body styles and with the 2.2 litre diesel engine and 6-speed manual ’box. The Defender LXV gets the sort of toys no one could ever have envisaged on those early Defenders, including a Santorini Black or Fuji White paint job with Corris Grey roof, grille and headlight surrounds, full leather seats with orange contrast stitching, lots of ‘LXV’ badges and even the option of a Union flag on the back. Car Design China Award Winners at Umeå

CDN 中国汽车设计大赛获奖选手在 Umeå Two of the Car Design China Award 2012 winners won the fantastic prize of a two-week fully funded placement at Sweden's Umeå Institute of Design to mix with like-minded young designers and learn new skills with some of the latest technology available. We spoke to Umeå's Programme Director for Transportation Design Education Demian Horst to find out how Fang Siyuan of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and Huang Hongliang of Huazhong University of Science and Technology got on. After arriving on 21 September the two students joined up with the course's 20 international students – including two Chinese students – in the studio before undertaking their first task, which was to join both transport classes in a sketch workshop with BMWDesignworksUSA designer and Umeå alumnus Tommy Forsgren.
