BMW i8 Concept Spyder
Mon, 02 Apr 2012BMW has released images and information about its i8 Concept Spyder, which follows on from the i3 and i8 concepts. This open-top two-seater car features upwards-swiveling doors that pivot forwards around the A-pillars, a transparent glass panel at the rear and is based around the LifeDrive architecture, which fusing independent units together using a lightweight modular construction. A two-section roof is planned for less favorable conditions.

At this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, there will be almost no end of new things to do with those electrons, from entertaining occupants to informing them, and many of those new things will be aimed at the automotive market.

Car makers certainly seemed to have made the hydrogen fuel cell a practical proposition for powering cars (although cost is still an obstacle), but that’s just the start of making FCEVs a viable option. Huge amounts of work need to be done to create a hydrogen refuelling network but, perhaps more importantly, car buyers need to understand that FCEVs are viable and that they exist at all.
