Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake on the way

Wed, 24 Apr 2013

Mercedes’ design boss Gordon Wagener has revealed to WhatCar that they are planning to go exactly the same route with the CLA as they did with the CLS, and create a coupe estate. The CLS Shooting Brake (pictured below) has been very well received, and with much of the world downsizing its cars a CLA Estate is a very sensible way to go, offering all the good design elements of the CLA – which already looks like a CLS on a boil wash – in a car that has more practicality. Wagener gave no idea of time scale for the CLA Shooting Brake, but with the first CLAs expected to hit customers in June it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a concept CLA Shooting Brake arrive by the time of the Frankfurt Motor Show in September before going on sale in 2014.

Rolls launches first used-car scheme

Tue, 17 Jul 2007

By George Barrow Motor Industry 17 July 2007 03:56 Want to save £75,000 on a Rolls-Royce? The company has just launched its first approved used-car scheme at its six UK dealers, called the Rolls-Royce Provenance programme. It’s basically a carbon copy of mainstream approved used schemes, and cars have to meet such stringent standards that Rolls claims selected cars are ‘virtually faultless’.

Jaguar Land Rover factory closure

Thu, 24 Sep 2009

Jaguar Land Rover are to close one of their production facilities in the Midlands JLR unions have already brokered a deal to ensure no job losses in the short term, but JLR are committed to rationalising their manufacturing across just two plants in the UK, instead of the existing three. The decision will be made about which plant to close in the next eighteen months. The most likely scenario is that JLR will close Solihull – which currently produces Land Rovers and employs 5000 people – and concentrate Land Rover production at Halewood.
