Students prepare for Coventry University's annual degree show

Students of Coventry University's Automotive and Transport Design course are getting ready for their annual degree show, dubbed ‘Discover ID'. Already the largest show in Europe, this year's exhibition will be the biggest ever, with 107 BA and MDes students showcasing their design talents. Aside from automotive projects, the exhibition will feature projects including two full-size motorcycles, a Rolls-Royce yacht, a Pacific cruise airship and arctic tourism vehicles.

The first photo has leaked of Renault's new Alpine sports car, the A110-50. It's a concept car due to be shown at the Monaco grand prix this weekend, according to online reports of an official announcement due on Friday 25 May. Only this single photo has been published ahead of the embargo - revealing a low, blue sports car with heavy overtones of the Renault Dezir concept car first shown at the 2010 Paris motor show.

We really liked the Toyota FT-1, which caught us off guard in the best possible way when it emerged at the Detroit auto show. In fact, we liked Toyota's “spiritual pace car” enough to call it the most fun new thing on the floor -- and we're hoping the automaker's execs take notice. Reader Dennis Liu certainly noticed the car, which seemed rather familiar to him: He feels that, coincidentally or not, it looks a lot like the Bertone Mantide.
