Kia Optima T-Hybrid concept revealed ahead of Paris debut

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

Kia Optima T-Hybrid concept revealed ahead of Paris debut It looks like Kia is ready to push the start button on a new range of mild hybrids with the reveal of the Kia Optima T-Hybrid concept ahead of its debut later this week at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The new mild hybrid powertrain isn’t going to make an enormous difference to power or economy, but in a world where taxation gets based on official CO2 figures it will make the Optima more appealing to company car buyers. The Optima hybrid gets the normal 1.7 litre diesel engine and adds a small electric motor powered by a 48V lead-carbon battery which will be enough for short running at low speeds on electric power alone or allow some electric ‘cruising’ on motorways.

Lexus LFA says goodbye on video

Mon, 03 Jun 2013

The Lexus LFA says goodbye in a tribute video The very last Lexus LFA was produced in December 2012, and the last LFA destined for Europe in March 2013, so now, with the LFA consigned to the annuls of Toyota’s car history, Lexus has decided they should pay tribute to their very special supercar. It took a decade to get the LFA from initial concept to production, and much changed in that time. But the end result was worth the wait, even if the price tag – north of £300k – made the LFA a car only for the properly wealthy petrolheads.

Mazda mourns Neil Warrior

Thu, 04 Jun 2009

Mazda's Director of Public Relations - Neil Warrior - sadly lost in the Air France tragedy When a plane goes down it understandably makes headlines as the loss is so big in one fell swoop. Paradoxically, the news coverage also illustrates just how safe air travel normally is. After all, more people are lost every day in road accidents than in even the biggest air disaster.
