Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake for Geneva debut
Mon, 24 Feb 2014This leaked photo seems to be a new Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake It seems Ian Callum was right all along about an XFR Sportbrake – it now looks like Jaguar are about to go one step further than an XFR Estate with a Full Monty Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake. When Jaguar revealed the XF Sportbrake two years ago they said there would be no four-wheel-drive variants and no XFR Sportbrake either (even though Ian Callum said in 2011 there would be an XFR Sportbrake), so for the last two yeare we’ve had just diesel engine options for the XF Sportbrake. But not for much longer it would seem.
AutoWeek Design Forum: McLaren evolves with carbon fiber
Thu, 13 Jan 2011McLaren Automotive design boss Frank Stephenson detailed his company's transformation from strictly racing to producing road-going models on Thursday at the AutoWeek Design Forum. McLaren is launching the highly anticipated MP4-12C this year, and the company has been hard at work refining the use of carbon fiber, which it pioneered in the iconic McLaren F1. The company cut the amount of time required to design a carbon-fiber tub from 3,000 hours for the F1 to a mere four hours for the MP4-12C.
Kia four-door sports sedan concept
Fri, 19 Aug 2011Kia isn't giving much away about its Frankfurt-bound concept car, indeed it hasn't even released its name yet, referring to it as the 'four-door sports sedan concept.' The press release talks of it as 'signalling a distinctive new design direction' for the Korean brand, yet the now-familiar 'tiger-nose' grille and Optima-esque A-pillar/cant rail/C-pillar highlight are very much in evidence. "No matter from which perspective you look at it - this concept car is roaring with energy and ready for take-off," says Peter Schreyer, Kia Motors Chief Design Officer."I believe the car is a strong statement from Kia: we are ready to fast forward to an all new chapter." We'll bring you full details (and hopefully a name) from IAA next month. Photo gallery: Kia four-door sports sedan concept
