New Volvo tease for Frankfurt – is it a modern P1800 Coupe? (video)

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

New Volvo tease for Frankfurt (pictured) Is it a modern P1800? We really didn’t have anything completely new and radical on the radar from Volvo for the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, but if this teaser video from Volvo is anything to go by, we could be in for a surprise. Volvo has released a new video to tease something new at Frankfurt which is mainly a designer sketching and Volvo’s Head of Design - Thomas Ingenlath  - standing with his arms folded.

Porsche 959 prototype to cross the block at Barrett-Jackson

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

When Professor Helmuth Bott arrived at the fledgling Porsche sports-car company in 1952, he was in his late 20s. The young engineer's first assignment was setting up a gearbox test stand for the company's new all-syncromesh Type 519 transaxle. Thirty-one years later, he gave the go-ahead for the development of a car that was to be the ultimate bleeding edge of what Porsche knew about building a rear-engined sports car.

New Peugeot 308 SW (Estate) revealed

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

New Peugeot 308 SW (Estate) revealed The new Peugeot 308 has only just gone on sale in the UK, but Peugeot are ready with its load-lugging sibling – the Peugeot 308 SW Estate – revealed this morning ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Peugeot aren’t telling us what the boot capacity of the new 308 SW is with the back seats down, but with the back seats up it offers 610 litres – more than rivals like the Golf and Focus Estates can manage – and Peugeot say the load space is particularly uncluttered too. The extra space is thanks to an increase in length of the Estate over the Hatch of 327mm – all in the boot area as the wheelbase stays the same as the hatch – with the same EMP2 platform as the Hatch making the Estate up to 140kg lighter too.
