I can't say it's new, because it came off a bike.  I truly believe it was taken off a bike at a dealer before the bike was ever started.  I've poked my finger in the holes, and there's no oil or any other signs of use.  You can see in one of the pics that the original filter is in there.  As far as rust?: absolutely none.  The chrome dome, and all the little caveats where the bolts go in, all are a perfect mirror of chrome.  Plastic black parts are unscratched.  The whole thing is pristine, cosmetically new.

Last year I bought the 2005 Honda VTX1300c used with a hypercharger installed, and this was handed to me in a box, and in a plastic bag.  At some point it was stored open, evidenced by a few small cobweb remnants and thin dry dust here and there.  Look carefully at the photos: if there's some external tube or whatever that you need that isn't in the photo, it won't be included.  WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get).

I can't find a manufacturer part for the whole thing online, Honda seems to want to sell all the individual parts separately, but it's off of a 2005 VTX 1300C.  I would bet this will fit any VTX1300, but not when there's return shipping involved, so please be sure this will fit your bike before you bid.  I have no idea what those numbers mean in the last photo.

I don't really know what this is worth, so I'll start the bid at $150 (Buy it now $195) free shipping, and if it doesn't sell, I'll drop the price next time around.

Paypal only, USA and Canada only.  It's not very heavy, so I'll do free shipping to the lower 48 states 'cause everybody loves that, (email me for Hawaii/Alaska & Canada shipping prices).  If you want to come and pick it up, that's OK too, but remember to bring cash, no checks or cards.

One Lap of the Web: Lambrecht cars, drifting red Italian cars, and lost east German cars

-- The Lambrecht Chevrolet sale is this weekend, and VanDerBrink auction house has posted some more walkaround videos of the lots. Check out this video which highlights some of the trucks and sedans, most of them with delivery mileage. -- Here's an interesting car that sold on eBay last week and attracted quite a bit of attention on Bringatrailer.com: a 1975 Peugeot 604 that was brought into the U.S.

Stop-Start Freelander on the way

Mon, 01 Dec 2008

Land Rover has announced that it will be introducing stop-start technology on its Freelander range from May 2009, thus saving around 8% on the Co2 emissions, and taking the Freelander down a group on VED, which should help move a few more Freelanders off forecourts next year. The technology for the stop-start was developed in-house, with a new engine management system coming from Bosch and an uprated starter from Denso. The stop-start option will be available on the 2.2 TD4, which accounts for nearly half of UK sales.
