Jaguar XJ & XF get 4WD

Thu, 16 Aug 2012

Jaguar has announced that four wheel drive versions of the Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XF will be available – but not in the UK. Jaguar has long bemoaned the lack of a 4WD platform for their cars, and even blamed such a lack of flexibility for the delay in launching the XF Sportbrake. We’ve been expecting Jaguar to reveal a 4WD version of the XJ for a while (especially as the new Range Rover utilises the same platform) but we didn’t expect a 4WD XF until the next generation XF launches in a couple of years.

Cadillac Ciel concept

Fri, 19 Aug 2011

The Cadillac Ciel concept, a four-seat convertible, has just been revealed at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. "The Ciel is about the romance of the drive," says Clay Dean, global design director of Cadillac. "It emulates the great touring cars seen on the greens at Pebble Beach, but with a modern flair that projects Cadillac's vision for the future." Interior design manager Gael Buzyn says, "Simplicity and lightness ensure nothing distracts from the open driving experience, while the color and materials lend the feeling that the vehicle's environment blends with the surroundings." The four-door Cadillac Ciel concept was developed with a long, low proportion, reminiscent of classic automobiles, while the interior features Italian olive wood, machined aluminum and hand-tipped leather.

Jaguar supercars

Tue, 29 Jul 2008

By Tim Pollard 29 July 2008 09:00 Luxury saloon specialist Jaguar has one genuine supercar contender under its belt, CAR would postulate. The XJ220 was born at the height of the supercar boom – but suffered the market collapse, and never really received the recognition it deserves. An interesting curio, nevertheless Make and model Year Price Engine 0-60mph Top speed  1992 £415,000   3498cc V6, 542bhp, 475lb ft  3.9sec  217mph For   Held the production-car speed record for a couple of years  at 217mph Against   Like the Diablo, never gained much credibility.
