I'm including a response I received from a tech at Hughes. I was verifying this converter. I've had it for about 20 years, filled with fluid and capped, as I was planning to use it in a build.
The Ford 10" core is a far superior core, that simply is not available anymore.

"Thank you for submitting a contact form with Hughes Performance. Your torque converter part number is GM30. This is our Pro Street series 10" torque converter, and features an advertised stall speed rating of 3,000 RPM. Your particular converter is a much older design and is built from a Ford 10" torque converter core. We now build all GM30's from a GM 245MM core. The Ford 10" core is extremely strong and makes for a great street performance converter, but those cores have dried up which is why we switched to the 245MM core currently in use.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you for your interest in Hughes Performance!
