*** PLEASE READ:  This kit comes with Hurst chrome stick 538-8550, an 'S'-shaped stick where the knob threads are vertical.  I also sell another kit (in my other listings) with the 538-0015 stick where the knob threads are at the same rearward angle as the stick.  In theory the 8550 stick is best for 1983-1993 while the 0015 is best for 1994-2004, but really it is a personal preference.  Hurst uses the 0015 in their 1983-2004 Mustang shifter kits, while Ford Racing uses the 8550 in their kits.  So consider which one suits you best.  ***

Brand new Hurst chrome stick and knob for 1983-2004 Ford Mustang - FITS ALL 5-SPEED MODELS using shifters that have bolt-on sticks:

  • Factory stock
  • Hurst
  • Steeda Tri-Ax
  • Pro5.0

Intended for use with STOCK TRIM AND BOOT.  It does not come with a Hurst rubber boot, and does not need one.  Easy way to convert a Hurst Billet Plus 3915030, 3915031, 3915035, Steeda Tri-Ax, or Pro5.0 shifter etc. to chrome!  I do have similar kits with Hurst console trim plates for 1979-93 models, and a kit for 6 speeds - see my other listings.  For 1994+ I've seen people adapt Hurst boots, but I don't have any info.  Kit includes chrome stick, classic white shift knob, jam nut and mounting M8 hardware for stock shifter bases.  If you want 3/8" mounting bolts for an aftermarket Hurst shifter instead, specify with payment.

This kit does NOT include a shifter base, but I offer it with a short throw base in another listing.  Throw reduction is only achieved by changing to an aftermarket base.

All parts are sold in bulk, no retail packaging.  Stick being offered here is in regular chrome finish (despite shadows in pic).

STICK INFO:  Hurst # 538-8550, chrome plated steel, 8" tall, bends 2.5" rearward and then bends back to vertical near top.  3/8"-16 knob threads.  All Hurst sticks have 3/8" holes spaced apart 7/8" on center.  It was designed specifically for 1983-2004 Mustang; custom applications require careful consideration for proper fitment.  Stick is also sold alone in my other listings.  *** Knobs with stock 12mm threads are not compatible with this stick. ***  Similar kit with 538-0015 stick also available in my other listings.

KNOB INFO:  Hurst # 163-0025, a molded replacement knob (OE on many Hurst kits) with 5 speed pattern on top and "Hurst" on sides as shown.  1 7/8" diameter with 3/8"-16 threaded brass insert, jam nut included.  Engraved knob w/ plain sides (ie 163-0008) also available by request.  4 speed knob also available by request.

Also available with black knob, specify with payment.

I ALSO OFFER A HURST SHORT STICK KIT IN BLACK  FOR THOSE LOOKING TO REDUCE KNOB HEIGHT.

Opel/Vauxhall has revealed pictures of the forthcoming Astra GTC ahead of its official unveiling at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Virtually unchanged from the GTC Paris concept of last year, the Astra GTC will go head to head with the Volkswagen Scirocco and Renault’s Megane Coupe. The third body style to enter the Astra family, the GTC shares only the door handles and roof aerial with its siblings.

Tesla has room to grow with the Model S sedan, Calif. factory

Tue, 04 Oct 2011

We got a brief ride in a prototype of the Tesla Model S all-electric sedan, and as far as we could tell from the passenger seat, it seemed like a luxury performance bargain for just $57,400. Of course, being just a passenger means any evaluation is more or less just a guess. We should get to drive one of them sometime before the fully finished models go on sale next summer and then we will have a more definitive take on the car.

MINI Roadster - official photos, specs and prices With the MINI Coupe hitting the roads just about now, next in line for MINI is the MINI Roadster, with the soft-top, two-seat MINI due to hit UK showrooms in the Spring. As a prelude to that, MINI got up early this Sunday morning to send us over 200 photos of the Roadster, together with specs of the Roadster models and the UK prices. Just like its tin-top sibling – the MINI Coupe – the MINI Roadster is all about the drive, so in every way that counts – apart from its drop top – the Roadster is a fresh-air Coupe.
