Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe
Tue, 09 Jan 2007By Ben Oliver Motor Shows 09 January 2007 05:53 Drophead Coupe makes waves in Detroit CAR Online brought you the first pictures of the new open-top Phantom and exclusive video footage last month, but this £260,000 monster still stole the Detroit show when Rolls-Royce chairman Ian Robertson officially unveiled it in what will be by far its biggest market. The 100EX concept on which the production car is based stole the 2004 Geneva show too, and features which we all thought would only be seen on the concept, such as the teak ‘decking’ on the hood cover and the rear-hinged suicide doors, have made it to the finished car. Production starts at Goodwood this summer.
Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Disco Volante – a new take on the Alfa 8C
Fri, 02 Mar 2012The Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Disco Volante Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Disco Volante is a homage to the 1952 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante, based on the Alfa 8C and heading to Geneva. The Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera Disco Volante – which is quite a mouthful – is a concept put together by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera for this year’s Geneva Motor Show and is a modern take on the 1952 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante, itself a Touring concept based on the Alfa 1900. This time Carrozzeria Touring has taken a modern Alfa as a platform for its creation, the Alfa Romeo 8C, and created a new body in hand crafted aluminium with carbon fibre elements, but under the skin it looks like the 8C stays intact.
Porsche says 1952 356 Cabriolet is oldest one sold in the U.S.
Thu, 21 Oct 2010A 1952 Porsche 356 cabriolet owned by Robert Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla., has been named the winner of a contest to find the oldest Porsche sold in America. Porsche Cars North America ran the contest, which asked owners to submit documentation showing when their cars were first sold, as part of its celebration of 60 years of selling cars in the United States. Wilson's car, which he found in a salvage yard, was imported in November 1952 by Max Hoffman, who started bringing Porsches to the United States in 1950.
