Hurth HBW 100 2R Marine Transmission
ZF-HURTH Marine boat reversing gear-
box units of the ZF M line are servo-au-
tomatically controlled helical gear trans-
missions developed for use in pleasure
craft and commercial craft. The servo-
operated multiple-disc clutch
requires only minimum effort for shifting,
making the ZF M transmission suitable
for single-lever remote control via a rod
linkage or shift cable.
In emergency situations the ZF M per-
mits direct reversing at engine speed
above idle rpm.
The torque capacity of the clutch is ex-
actly rated, preventing shock loads from
exceeding a predetermined value to en-
sure maximum protection of the engine
and thus providing the effect of a safety clutch.

Opel/Vauxhall Cascada [w/gallery]

Wed, 17 Oct 2012

The Opel/Vauxhall Cascada effectively replaces the Astra Twin Top, but attempts to move the model upmarket as a separate product line. It has moved up a size to reflect its prestige aspirations: at 4,697 mm long and 1,840 mm wide, it's longer than an Audi A5. Like many of the latest generation of convertibles, the Cascada ditches a folding solid hardtop in favor of a lighter, more space-efficient and cheaper soft fabric set-up.

Muscle-car icons immortalized in new postal-stamp set

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Perhaps sensing that it's at risk of going the way of the carbureted big-block and leaded gasoline, the United States Postal Service is apparently willing to try anything to boost its bottom line. Though we're sure its recently announced line of postal worker-inspired apparel will be a runaway (and runway) success, we're glad to see the USPS reaching out to the automotive-enthusiast community with a new set of limited-edition stamps that commemorate the American muscle car. We told you about the stamps earlier this year, but we can now confirm the lineup.

Interior Motives Design Conference 2005 announced

Mon, 25 Apr 2005

Inside the car industry some of the world's most talented designers seek to create exciting, safe, comfortable and desirable products that exceed the expectations of their customers. But consumer expectations of form and function are advancing faster than many companies can innovate, and the result is that there is a shortfall in exciting and emotional products. Yet the demand for them is real.
