GM posts quarterly net income of $1.96 billion

General Motors Co., in its final financial snapshot before next week's initial public offering of stock, posted third quarter net income of $1.96 billion on revenues of $34.06 billion. The results, released Wednesday, were in line with a forecast issued last week. GM now has earned $4.16 billion on revenues of $98.71 billion through three straight profitable quarters this year--a dramatic swing after five consecutive annual losses.

McLaren P1: The Bahrain Photo Shoot

On a tour of the Middle East – and ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show – the McLaren P1 has been photographed at the Bahrain International Circuit. That drip of information has included everything from the development version of the P1 on video, the first view of the instruments on the P1 and, most recently, the first interior photos of the P1. The most expensive cars ever: Ferrari 250 GTO sells for $38 million

At a stroke, the Ferrari has become the most valuable car in the world, overtaking the 1954 Mercedes W196 R F1 Racer which sold for $30m at an auction at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Tellingly, seven of the top 10 most expensive cars ever sold at auction were Ferraris (see our list below).
