SAIC launches first Roewe-MG Cup Automotive Design Awards China
Mon, 08 Apr 2013The first SAIC Roewe-MG Cup Automotive Design Awards China have been launched, with the slogan "Design Drives Dreams." SAIC is calling for aspiring designers to demonstrate their talents by designing a future sedan, SUV or MPV for Roewe in 2020. With Roewe's position as a high-end marque, SAIC has highlighted that elegance and innovation as key considerations for entrants. The new design competition was officially announced by executive director of SAIC Technical Center Zhang Cheng at the carmaker's Shanghai-based Design Center.

Wed, 14 May 20146 new Jaguar Lightweight E-Types on the way Even in 1963, car makers made ‘special editions’ of production cars, and one such car was the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type, a lightweight version of the then new production E-Type designed to take Jaguar racing. This was in the days before carbon fibre panels, so Jaguar built many of the body panels from aluminium and fitted an aluminium block version of the 3.8 litre engine from the production E-Type with 300bhp (55bhp more than the road car), fuel injection and a ZF 5-speed gearbox. The Lightweight E-Type wasn’t a spectacular success on the track, and Jaguar ended up building just 12 of the original planned run of 18.
Free Regent Street Motor Show to showcase past, present and future
Mon, 21 Oct 2013A GLORIOUS MIX of old and new will descend on the capital in early November as the Regent Street Motor Show returns. On Saturday 2nd November Regent Street closes to traffic from Piccadilly Circus to Oxford Circus, allowing over 300 cars to go on display in a free show for the public. The display will include as many as 100 pre-1905 veteran vehicles which will compete in the EFG International Concours d’Elegance and then take on the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run the following day - the oldest competitive driving event in the world.
