Brand:Ibas Manufacturer Part Number:Ibas Emergency Boat Ladder Type:Cruising Boat Cannister Emergency Ladder Country/Region of Manufacture:United States

Purchased for a cruising boat project and never mounted, this Ibas CANNISTER DEPLOYABLE EMERGENCY LADDER remains in excellent, virtually new condition- There are numerous photos showing its details and condition, including with the ladder deployed.

This is a SERIOUS PIECE OF SHIPBOARD SAFETY EQUIPMENT- The cannister has a trailing/deploying line which when pulled allows the ladder to drop over the side or stern, with a long five step ladder to climb back aboard.  Very  handsome cannister easily mounts to the deck, with the ladder end cleated to a hardpoint or cleat, taking all of the strain.  It is the most thought out and secure safety ladder design I've seen.  Anyone who has had to climb back aboard a large boat (or even some tall dinghies) knows how surprisingly difficult that is.  I had an acquaintance who had his father go overboard while doing sail changes on the foredeck.  The crew correctly threw life jackets, cushions etc. overboard, kept pointing at him,  and were able to find him.  They clasped hands but couldn't get him back aboard- He slid away.    Never to be seen again.

Safety ladders are important.  Even at dockside they can be lifesavers.

These Ibas ladders were the best deployable ladders made, running $179.00+ when I last saw them.   Full illustrated instructions inside the cannister.   Hard to find, yet offered with a ....Low Starting Bid.

Fri, 08 Jan 2010

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 08 January 2010 15:30 Peugeot is signalling a fresh design direction with this brave new SR1 concept car. And if it doesn't look like a Peugeot, that's deliberate. It's all change at Peugeot, tacit admission that its design has erred in recent years.
