MINI gives the London Philharmonic the patriotic horn
Sat, 07 Jul 2012MINI has teamed up the 2012 MINI London Edition with the London Philharmonic to create a MINI horn National Anthem. The London Philharmonic Orchestra has just finished the mammoth task of recording 205 National Anthems for the 2012 London Olympics, but this is one National Anthem that won’t be wafting across East London in the next month. The London 2012 Olympics are MINI’s marketing method of choice at the moment, so they took nine MINI London 2012 Editions – in a mix of Red, White and Blue – tuned their horns and roped in nine musicians from the Philharmonic’s horn section to toot in time.
Amelia Island auction wrap-up
Tue, 12 Mar 2013With everything that happened last weekend in Amelia Island, attendees could be forgiven for missing the auctions. Attendees could be forgiven, but a failure by Autoweek to bring those hot, hot auction numbers to you, the readers of autoweek.com? Well, that would be unforgiveable -- especially when Hagerty has people watching every single car cross the block, and then compiling all the results.
Volkswagen e-Golf: MK 7 Golf EV leaks ahead of Geneva debut
Wed, 20 Feb 2013An electric version of the MK 7 Volkswagen Golf – the VW e-Golf – has leaked out ahead of a debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Even though car industry bosses are sure that battery electric cars have no realistic chance of becoming a mainstream option – and the best-selling EV, the Nissan LEAF, has only sold 50k since 2010 – VW are rolling out an electric Golf at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. The VW e-Golf – with pretty much the same underpinnings as the new Mk 7 Golf with an ICE engine – comes with an electric motor driving the front wheels and offering 115bhp and 199lb/ft of torque, enough to get the e-Golf to 62mph in 11.8 seconds and on to a top speed of just 84mph.
