This combination produces outstanding control, great response, and unparalleled ride performance. To achieve even more control for extreme off-road use, ICON added an additional internal hydraulic system (much like an external mounted hydraulic bumpstop) that increases the resistance to bottoming during the last 40% of travel to achieve maximum bottom out control. These multiple stages of compression and rebound have been tuned independently to maximize overall performance of the Ford SVT Raptor front suspension. For owners who wish to optimize the ride specific to his or her liking, the front coil-over shocks are equipped with an external, “Easy to Adjust” Compression Damping Control Valve, that is effective for the entire stroke of the shock. This compression adjustment valve offers you 10 high resolution settings, each providing a noticeable difference in ride from soft to firm.

The included ICON Rear ZETA Ford SVT Raptor Shocks are a true 3.0” (inside and out), three tube External Bypass shock. These are even more advanced than what you will find on most Trophy Trucks equipped with a standard external bypass system. Each bypass valve has a specific port design and is individually equipped with a different rate to ensure proper performance at each zone of shock travel. These same bypass valves feature dampened valve stops for quiet and precise operation. That means a major reduction in "bypass clatter" as you hit bumps driving down the road. The biggest difference in these shocks versus an industry standard bypass shock, are the “Easy-to-Adjust” knobs and the replaceable bypass tubes. The “Easy to Adjust” Hi Resolution Clicker Knobs do not require any tools for adjustment, and can be adjusted in seconds from plush off-road performance to firm on road manners for extra control while driving the mountains or towing a trailer. Another unique feature of this shock is the replaceable bypass tubes that can be swapped out during a standard rebuild if any damage were to occur, where a normal bypass shock body would need to be completely replaced, saving you hundreds of dollars.

This Stage 1 System combines the unstopable performance of the ICON Ford Raptor 3.0 Performance Front Coilover and the ICON 3.0 Piggyback Reservoir Rear Shock. These are the same shocks used in the Stage 2 System, the only difference is the Stage 1 System does NOT include the ICON Billet Aluminum Upper Control Arm Kit.

2013 Nissan LEAF updated

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

Nissan has updated the LEAF EV in Japan for 2013 with better range, less weight and a new LEAF S entry-level model. Revealed in Japan – but likely to come to the UK from 2013 when the LEAF starts rolling out of Nissan’s Sunderland factory – there are significant upgrades to the powertrain which result in both less weight and better range. Nissan has had a play with the electric powertrain and made it both smaller and lighter with a new motor that uses 40 per cent less dysprosium (a rare earth metal) than before, and comes in 30 per cent smaller and 10 per cent lighter, and a new streamline battery case and a few other tweaks drops the LEAF’s weight by 80kg.

Top Gear Tonight: Alfa Romeo 4C, McLaren P1, Camp Bastion & SIARPC is Tom Hiddleston

Sun, 09 Feb 2014

Top Gear tonight sees Richard Hammond in the Alfa 4C Tonight sees the second episode of Top Gear’s 21st series, which sounds to be a lot more interesting than the less than captivating first episode of the new series last week. Richard Hammond gets to go and play on the shores of Lake Como in Italy with a car we expect he’ll like very much – the new Alfa Romeo 4C. Lots of twisty roads and a small but powerful 2-seater Alfa Romeo sound like a recipe for fun, but this is Top Gear so there’s a twist – Clarkson turns up to challenge Hammond in his 4C to a race with Clarkson on a quad bike.

How the Nissan Qashqai reinvented the family car

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

The 2014 Nissan Qashqai (above) arrived in showrooms this week, but will the second-generation model be as groundbreaking as the first? Inevitably, the all-new Qashqai looks very similar to the outgoing model, but why change a winning formula? The original Qashqai was, arguably, the most successful new family car launch since the original Volkswagen Golf from 1974. And it came out of the blue, because Nissan was perhaps the last company anyone would have expected to come up with such a revolutionary design.
