This Carrier Bearing Shim Kit can be used on all 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 model year F250 and F350 Super Duty trucks equipped with a 2-piece rear driveshaft. Please note, this carrier bearing shim kit is for use with the rear driveshaft supplying power to the rear wheels, it is NOT to be used for any other application. The Icon 3-37 kit includes a collection of 1/8", 1/4" and 1/16" thick shims and longer bolts. The exact shim stack height can and will vary from truck to truck. Icon provides an instruction sheet with a recommended starting thickness based on the rear lift height.

Item 33700 is offered as an option in the Icon Vehicle Dynamics line of suspension lifts and will help reduce driveline vibration by lowering the carrier bearing. The shim kit thickness is not a perfect science and may require some tinkering to find the sweet spot for your specific vehicle and lift height. This is because there are LOTS of different rear lift height options and not all trucks are 100% identical. Basically you will add or remove shims to the carrier bearing (raising or lowering it) until you are happy with the results. The best result will be one where rear driveline vibration is least noticeable when driving.

Concept Car of the Week: Mercedes-Benz C111, C111-II and C111-IID

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

In 1962, Mercedes-Benz launched a research program to investigate the development of the Wankel rotary engine and its potential both on the road and track. While the early mule wasn't a looker, the prototype's design continued to evolve until a public unveiling of the C111-I concept, designed by Bruno Sacco, at the 1969 Frankfurt motor show. The coupé may have looked like the systematic further development of the Sport Light models from the ‘50s with its gullwing doors, but it wasn't a design study for a new SL.

Five reasons to celebrate the end of the paper UK driving licence

Tue, 12 Aug 2014

From January 2015 Britain’s much-derided paper counterpart driving licence is being phased out. This is A Good Thing, ending an annoying bi-partite arrangement that’s blighted drivers’ pockets for 16 years. Driving licences have been with us since 1903, when they were first mandated – but the current, annoyingly two-part licences have been in use since 1998, with a bank card-sized photocard accompanied by a printed sheet of A4.

BMW 5-series (2010) photos and video of new F10

Mon, 23 Nov 2009

Let’s start with the tech: BMW claims the new 5-series is the first car in its class to feature start-stop tech, an eight-speed automatic transmission and double wishbone front suspension. The new 5-series is also the first BMW to get the company's new Park Assist tech, slotting the car into a space by twiddling the wheel, leaving the driver to operate on the accelerator and brake pedals. A bit like a VW Touran, then.
