IDAvionics Airspeed Indicator is a 3 1/8” instrument that provides a wide range airspeed indication in both digital and analog formats. Airspeed is based on the pressure generated by a pitot tube system and a static port is provided as well for use by high speed aircraft. Airspeed can be indicated in kilometers per hour (km/h) or nautical miles per hour (knots). The analog airspeed display can be scaled according to the aircraft’s flying speed range and markers for Vs, Vf, Vno and Vne can be set. ASI sensitivity can be calibrated by the user to cater for errors caused by pitot tube placement. The ASI-1 instrument measures airspeed up to 240 knots / 450km/h and is well suited to slower aircraft due to very good sensitivity and linearity at low air speeds. All data is displayed on modern, high-contrast graphic OLED screen with white background. Screen resolution is 128 x 64 pixels.

Jaguar XKR-S GT revealed (+ video)

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Jaguar has pulled a surprise with the reveal of a more focused, and expensive, XKR ahead of the New York Auto Show – the Jaguar XKR-S GT. The XKR-S GT doesn’t get extra power – the XKR-S already has 542bhp – but it does get lots of tweaks to make it more able to use the performance it has. That means a new bonnet with more vents to improve cooling, a new carbon fibre front splitter, new rear diffuser, an aluminium undertray at the front, a whopping great spoiler at the back and bits of carbon fibre floating around.

Mercury lives--on the auction circuit

James Dean famously drove one in Rebel Without a Cause, and perhaps Mercurys have never been cooler. That was more than 50 years ago and the brand is now on the verge of extinction. But as Plymouth, Pontiac and even Edsel have shown, some brands have legs that stretch long after new cars are gone from dealerships.
