CAR scoop: BMW and Toyota's joint sports car plot

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

BMW is buddying up with Toyota on an all-new sports car platform, set to underpin the replacements for the Z4, 6-series and GT86. The unlikely collaboration stems from an alliance that began in 2011, where BMW and Toyota agreed to co-develop next-generation lithium ion batteries, and for Toyota to use BMW’s fourpot diesels in its European cars. An engineering team is beavering away on the project, with the clock ticking: the suits want to outline the car’s specification before the end of 2013. Photos reveal the all-new Ford Mustang -- of 1979

Fri, 28 Mar 2014

If you need further proof that everything old is new again, just look at the engine options for the upcoming 2015 Ford Mustang. Adding a turbo-four to the pony car equation isn't exactly novel: The Blue Oval put a forced-induction motor with the same cylinder count, configuration and displacement in the 1979 Mustang.

Volvo Concept Estate revealed ahead of Geneva

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

The Volvo concept estate (pictured) debuts at Geneva We had the first glimpse of what we now know is the Volvo Concept Estate over the weekend when a Swedish raincoat manufacturer published a series of teaser photo sof the latestr Volvo Concept, and now Volvo has revealed it ahead of a Geneva debut. Just as the Volvo Concept Coupe was a modern interpretation of the icon Volvo P1800, the Concept estate is a reworking of the car the P1800 became in its final iteration – the Volvo P1800 ES. The P1800 ES was a Shooting Brake in the proper car sense – none of the modern interpretation where a Shooting Brake has become a four-door coupe estate – and the Concept estate is just the same – a two-door coupe with a stylish estate rear.
